ABOUT US

One of the reasons we all choose to live or work in Islip Township is our "Quality of Life," which is a somewhat hard to define, but appearance is certainly an important part of that definition. Littered roadways and graffiti covered walls and buildings immediately detract from the beauty of a town. KIC was founded in 1989 to assure that Islip Town would continue to enjoy a Quality of Life of which we could all be proud.

KIC's Board of Directors consists of residents from each of Islip's towns who are active in their own community. These Commissioners represent their hometown on the Board and there is a valuable exchange of ideas on how to best accomplish KIC's objectives. Commissioners are all volunteers and the only salaried person is the KIC Executive Director.

KIC is a not-for-profit affiliate of the nationwide organization Keep America Beautiful, Inc. (KAB), which has 400 other affiliates like KIC scattered across the country. With KAB's help, KIC has developed many programs to achieve our Quality of Life objectives.

None of our objectives could be met without our many dedicated volunteers, who are the foundation of KIC.
